Get Up!

Dead lift, say what?!
The bar is automatically 45 pounds.

Day two has been by far ... the hardest. Learning the "science" behind it, the names and lingo of working out -it all makes my head spin.

Dead lifting so far has been the most difficult and challenging and I haven't even gotten to squats yet. Keeping my butt down, head down, spine in alignment, and feet in the correct position has been difficult.  It doesn't help that I'm so rigid and uncoordinated.

My hip abductors (glutes and tensor facia lata) are so weak that Anthony had to put a band around my thighs to help stabilize me more. And then I would lose my balance and my toes would come up as I was lifting. Which is a common mistake for newbies who aren't pushing from the heel of their foot.

I probably needed this life lesson anyway but, there is my sweet husband and then there is my hardcore trainer who is always pushing for another rep. I've really had to learn to separate the two because, in the gym my husband is no longer my husband. Who is an expansion of my body -something that I'm so used and accustomed to.

Now, he is a drill Sargent. who's yelling at me to keep going, keep pushing. That we aren't here to give up, we are here to push our minds and bodies to the brink, fight through fatigue and exhaustion.
